Amazon Goes Big for the Holidays, Hiring 120,000 Employees

Amazon has announced it is gearing up for the holidays in a big way, by hiring more than 120,000 seasonal workers in 27 states. This marks a 20% uptick in seasonal workers hired year over year.

In 2015, Amazon hired 14,000 of the seasonal workers as full-time employees, and the company expects that number will grow again this year. The announcement comes as retail continues to trend towards online shopping and e-commerce.

Online shopping is expected to rise 7-10% over last year, according to the National Retail Federation. In contrast, most brick and mortar stores have seen flat numbers.
