Amazon has opened a 155,000-square-foot same-day fulfillment center in Bridgewater, MA.

Amazon Go Will Open in the East Loop

Amazon plans to open its fourth Amazon Go location in Chicago at the Illinois Center complex in early 2019. The 2,000-square-foot, cashierless grab-and-go food store will join a location that Amazon opened last month at 113 S. Franklin St. (pictured), and two others that have been announced at 144 S. Clark St. and 500 W. Madison St.

In contrast to the three other Amazon Go sites in Chicago, the Illinois Center store at 111 E. Wacker Dr. will be located on the east side of the Loop, near high-traffic North Michigan Avenue.

“We thought Chicago plays well to the strengths of the store, which is helping people get food fast,” Amazon’s Dilip Kumar told Chicago Business Journal when asked about the selection of the Windy City to introduce the concept beyond Seattle. Shoppers pay for their merchandise through their Amazon accounts; cameras and sensors in-store track what’s being purchased.
