Amazon Gears Up for 600K-SF Distribution Center in Rancho Cordova

Amazon appears poised to build a distribution center of more than 600,000 square feet in Rancho Cordova, after closing escrow recently on 84 acres in that city, reported the Sacramento Business Journal. The site within the Rio Del Oro master plan was approved for industrial use two years ago by the Rancho Cordova City Council after reviewing plans proposed on Amazon’s behalf by Panattoni Development.

“This project has been part of our operation plans and we’re thrilled to move into the next phase of planning, with construction kicking off in a few months,” an Amazon spokesperson told the Business Journal, speaking on condition of anonymity. “More to come as we have more details to share.”

According to records, Amazon paid $23.603 million for the property, which is currently undeveloped land. The seller, listed in records as Alta Vista LLC, has the same address as Folsom-based Elliott Homes, the master developer for Rio Del Oro, the Business Journal reported. Total development costs would be at least $85 million.
