Amazon Expands in Irvine
Amazon is expanding in Orange County, reconfiguring a nearly 190,000-square-foot facility in Irvine, CA. The giant e-commerce retailer is building out the distribution facility to fit its specific needs.
That includes locating fulfillment facilities closer to population bases, in order to handle deliveries more efficiently. The company is stepping up efforts to offer enhanced services such as Prime Now for products, and AmazonFresh for groceries, which is available in many communities in Orange and LA counties.
Amazon leased the facility from Von Karman Income Partners Holding Co., an affiliate of Palo Alto, CA-based Menlo Equities. The company acquired the asset in 2011 for $47 million.
