Amazon Data Center Arm Acquires Manassas Site for $218M

Amazon Data Services Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon.com Inc., has acquired a 91-acre site in Manassas for $218 million, Washington Business Journal reported. The site, located at 14237 and 14209 Dumfries Road, was purchased from Parsons Business Park LLC. Amazon plans to build a data center on the property.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved a rezoning proffer amendment in March, paving the way for data center development on the site. The property is situated within the county’s Data Center Opportunity Zone Overlay District, which facilitates fast-track permitting and by-right development for data centers in specific areas.

Amazon already operates several data centers in the area. The recent acquisition adds to its existing footprint in Manassas, where it purchased 140 acres in January for data center development.
