Amazon Books Opens First Texas Locale in Austin

The first Amazon Books location in Texas has opened at the Domain Northside mixed-use development on Austin’s far-north side. The online giant has planted its physical presence at 11700 Rock Rose Ave. The new Amazon store is not too far from a large corporate office in the Domain, which houses about 900 employees.

Similar to other brick-and-mortar Amazon stores, the Austin location contains more high-tech gadgets as opposed to outright books. The physical books, turned cover-out, have cards listing star ratings and reviews from the Amazon website. Only online bestsellers, new books and books with at least four stars are available in the stores.

Amazon Books currently has 13 locations from California to New York. Three more are being planned for Washington, DC, Maryland and Colorado.
