Amazon Acquires San Francisco Site for $200M, Plans First Delivery Center
Amazon acquired a development site in San Francisco for $200 million with plans to develop a 150,000-square-foot delivery center. The 5.9-acre urban site at 900 7th St. abutting the SoMa, Potrero Hill and Mission Bay neighborhoods was sold by waste-management service Recology.
The property currently houses an office and fleet maintenance facility that will be demolished. Amazon’s new facility will be its first delivery center in San Francisco, which promises to create several hundred jobs.
Amazon’s Michelle Godwin-Watts says, “We are excited to make this investment in San Francisco that will create jobs and help ensure we can reliably and efficiently deliver to our growing number of customers in the Bay Area.”
The three-story facility will include two levels of fleet staging and one level for parking, as well as 10 ground-level freight loading docks.
Newmark’s Mark Geisreiter, Steven Golubchik and Seth McKinnon represented the seller.
