Amazon a Big Maybe for Fremont’s Pacific Commons South

According to recent reports and city zoning documents filed in Fremont, CA, plans are moving forward for an Amazon e-commerce delivery center in the Fremont Technology Business Center at the Pacific Commons South industrial park. Amazon has declined to confirm.

Construction of the Pacific Commons complex is underway, with the first buildings expected to be ready for occupancy early this year. The delivery center would be in a planned 366,617-square-foot building at the industrial park, with some of the outdoor parking to be constructed instead of another building that had been proposed, according to city documents.

Fremont is becoming a new hotspot for industrial development preferred by logistics intensive operators. Overton Moore plans show them developing Pacific Commons as a 1.7-million-square-foot development with 10 buildings in total, which may drop to nine if Amazon’s parking requirements are to be met.
