Amarillo College in Midst of Multimillion-Dollar Renovations
Amarillo College, a two-year college in Amarillo, TX, is concluding campus renovations while work is underway on other projects. Though bond proceeds and reserve monies helped pay for renovations, approximately $1.5 million in private donations were raised to fund improvements.
The college’s Washington Street Campus on Washington Street underwent close to $4 million in upgrades, resulting in a new student commons and mall area (renamed the Ware Student Commons in honor of a generous philanthropist), and upgrades to parts of the College Union Building. The Commons brings the school’s resources for economically disadvantaged students together.
Meanwhile, construction is underway on a 6,900-square-foot aviation hangar and 13,300-square-foot addition to the school’s Diesel Transportation Center on the East Campus. The $3 million project will increase student capacity and space for the college’s automotive program.
