Almost Done: Essex Crossing’s 104 Units

After more than four decades, the first apartments will open September 2017 at Essex Crossing, a 1.9-million-square-foot development. The project is on a site that had been cleared for urban renewal in 1973.

Housing officials opened the lottery for Essex Crossing Site 5’s 104 affordable apartments, at 145 Clinton St. The lottery is affordable to individuals earning as little as $19,680 annually. Essex Crossing also targets people who used to live on the site before it was cleared, so long as those individuals have proof of address between 1965-1973.

“We are excited to announce the opening of the housing lottery for the first residential building in this long-awaited development,” said Maria Torres-Springer commissioner of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
