All Texas Joann Stores to be shut down

All Texas Joann Stores to be Shuttered

Joann Inc.’s more than 800 fabric and craft stores nationwide—including nine in the Houston area—will be liquidated and closed this spring. The retailer’s assets were auctioned off last weekend, as ordered by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

The winning bidders, Great American Group and Wilmington Savings Fund, plan to begin winding down the company’s operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations.

Before the auction, Joann had already started going-out-of-business sales at two-thirds of its 802 stores in 49 states, including 18 in Texas and four in the Houston area. In addition to the four stores in Houston, the company has one each in Humble, Katy, Spring, Sugar Land and Webster. Joann has 43 stores in Texas across 35 cities.
