Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has obtained conditional regulatory approval to acquire the San Antonio-based CST Brands. CST operates the Corner Store convenience store chain, and Couche-Tard announced in August 2016 that it would acquire the company.

In order to obtain full approval from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Couche-Tard must sell 71 stores in eight states, including Texas. The stores in question will be sold to Empire Petroleum Partners of Dallas. Many of the stores Couche-Tard owns are under the Circle K brand.

Couche-Tard said it anticipated the deal to close today, June 28, 2017.
