Aldi Opens in Eight Inland Empire Markets
Extreme discounter Aldi, who has family ties to Trader Joe’s, is opening its first eight California grocery stores in Beaumont, Fontana, La Quinta, Lake Elsinore, Moreno Valley, Palm Springs, San Bernardino and Yucaipa.
The chain operates 1,400 stores, primarily concentrated in 32 East Coast, Midwest and Southern states. The first 25 California stores will open between March and July of this year. Overall, Aldi plans to open 45 stores in California in 2016.
The grand openings at each new California store will continue for three days, starting on March 24. The first 100 shoppers at each store will receive a golden ticket, redeemable for an Aldi gift certificate.
