Akridge Breaks Ground on DC Office Redev
Washington, D.C.-based Akridge and its partner, Boston-based Alcion Ventures, L.P., broke ground on a 102,000-square-foot redevelopment of a 1978-era structure located at 1701 Rhode Island Ave. in Washington, D.C. The conversion into a contemporary work environment, featuring natural lighting and a full host of amenities, is slated to deliver in Q3 2018.
Public District officials, including Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Councilmember Jack Evans, recently gathered at the development site to commemorate the construction milestone with CRE industry leaders and development team members.
The freestanding building’s sophisticated design reflects cutting-edge workplace trends, while paying homage to the historic St. Matthew’s Cathedral and adjacent residential neighborhoods. The project is expected to spur new activity at a prominent intersection between the Golden Triangle business district, the greater Dupont Circle neighborhood, and the Fourteenth Street corridor.
