Akal Building $18M Lancaster Logistics Hub
Akal Development will be moving into a 200,000 square-foot venture, that is expected to generate 300 jobs near the town of Lancaster. The logistics company expects to begin work on the two-building project in June at a cost of $18 million. Expected completion is March 2025.
The Dallas Business Journal reports the entire development can house a total of five tenants and will feature buildings of 122,000 square feet and 77,000 square feet. Akal plans to move its ocean freight business to the smaller facility and lease out the remaining space. The company aims to have three tenants in the bigger building.
Akal’s A.J. Thiara likes the location, “It’s just south of Dallas, and it is right on [Interstate] 45 off all the developments happening out there. It’s basically a logistic hub. Any trucking that’s coming in from the Port of Houston doesn’t have to enter right into city traffic. A lot of the trucking issues can be tackled just outside of Dallas.”
