Airbnb’s 287K-SF Zynga Building Lease, San Francisco’s Largest of 2017

Airbnb signed the largest lease so far this year at the Zynga Building in San Francisco. The online vacation rental booking platform plans to take occupancy of 287,000 square feet at 650 Townsend and 699 8th St., beginning in 2018.

The San Francisco-based firm is taking over sublease space from Zynga, which reported the deal this week in its Q2 earnings call. The gaming company is working to resize its footprint in the 670,000-square-foot HQ building, as it continues to look for a buyer. Zynga acquired the property in 2012 for $228 million from San Francisco-based TMG Partners.

The deal boosts Airbnb’s presence in San Francisco’s Showplace Square neighborhood to more than 600,000 square feet, that also includes offices at 999 Brannan St., 888 Brannan St. and 99 Rhode Island St.
