AIDS Healthcare Foundation Files Suit to Delay $1B Crossroads Development

Connect Los Angeles is planned March 21st at the Hotel Indigo Downtown Los Angeles. You can get more information and register on this link.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has filed a lawsuit against City of Los Angeles and the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles (CRA/LA), claiming the entities violated several laws to fast track approve of Harridge Development Group’s Crossroads development.

Located in Hollywood, the $1 billion-luxury project will include 905 new apartments and condos in three high-rise buildings, 308 hotel rooms, and 190,000 square feet of retail space. The project requires the demolition of at least 84 rent-controlled apartments in Hollywood.

The City Council approved the Crossroads project in a 13 to 0 vote last month.

AHF’s suit claims the city and the CRA/LA have shown deliberate indifference to negative impacts and resulting gentrification. Michael Weinstein, president of AHF, asserts that the project violates the California Environmental Quality Act, Community Redevelopment Law, Planning and Zoning Law and Los Angeles Municipal Code.
