Agreement Reached on Massive Austin Development

Following months of contentious debate between the developer and community residents, an agreement for the mixed-use, 75-acre Grove at Shoal Creek in Central Austin has been hammered out. The Grove has been working its way through the government for two years, but thanks to mediation between the two parties, the Austin city council has called a special meeting to vote on the project.

Developer ARG Bull Creek Ltd. and the neighborhood group Bull Creek Road Coalition (BCRC) will ask the Austin City Council to approve a revised Plan Unit Development to cap office space at 185,000 square feet, and retail space at 140,000 square feet. The development will also include 1,515 residential units.  Both sides agreed to remove a cap on the maximum number of apartments that had been set at 650.
