Nevada Agency Votes to Invest $750M in Raiders Proposed Stadium
The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee has voted unanimously to allow $750 million in public investment to be put into a proposed $2 billion NFL stadium. The stadium in question would be built in an effort to lure the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas.
The next step is for Nevada’s Governor Brian Sandoval to call a special legislative session to approve the funding, before he can sign off on it. If passed, the ball, so to speak, would be in the NFL’s court. At least 24 of the 32 franchise owners would need to sign off on the plan. The money would reportedly come from hotel room taxes.
