After Troubles, Shuttered Dallas Hospital to Re-Open
Forest Park Medical Center was the site of a $200 million scheme designed to induce doctors to steer lucrative patients – particularly those with high-reimbursing, out-of-network private insurance – to the hospital. 14 healthcare-related employees were convicted of fraud. The hospital was promptly closed.
Methodist Health System, which acquired the structure near I-10 and Loop 1604, has been redeveloping the site. The new 155,000-square-foot hospital will have 54 beds and 12 operating rooms. It will also house 27 private patient rooms and 14 VIP suites.
Methodist spent roughly $75 million, including site acquisition costs, to redevelop the hospital.
Methodist Healthcare saw an opportunity and took it, “All of the Methodist Healthcare hospitals are dealing with capacity challenges due to growth in the market and demand for our services. This facility allows us to have more capacity as a system.” said Methodist Hospital Landmark’s Ryan Simpson.
