Affordable TOD Community Breaks Ground in East Bay

San Rafael, CA-based affordable housing developer, EAH Housing, broke ground on Estrella Vista, a new 86-unit transit-oriented, mixed-use residential development in downtown Emeryville, CA. The $64 million multifamily rental community is located at 3706 San Pablo Ave., and is slated to deliver in September 2019.

The project answers demand for more family-friendly housing near transit, and will provide up to four-bedroom apartment homes to households earning 30% to 60% of Alameda County’s area median income. Residents can walk to the MacArthur BART station.

Designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning, Estrella Vista features four main outdoor areas. A large central courtyard offers play equipment for children, while the Zen Garden and Adult Overlook offer space for young adults and parents to retreat. All courtyards are elevated above street level, and there’s an outdoor sky deck on the sixth level. The project also includes nearly 7,000 square feet of street-level retail.
