Affordable San Francisco Apartments Nonexistent

If you’re looking for affordable San Francisco apartments, you’re probably out of luck and might want to look elsewhere!

According to Zumper, an online nationwide service used by millions of renters every year, the median price for a one bedroom apartment throughout the city is $3,500. This makes San Francisco the most expensive multifamily rental market in the country.

The highest monthly rents are in the Financial District, averaging $4,180; Mission Bay, at $3,970; and in SoMa at $3,890. In 28 of 54 local neighborhoods, average rents were higher than $3,000.

The most affordable San Francisco neighborhoods are Outer Mission/Excelsior, clocking in at $1,950; Bayview, at $2,100; and the Tenderloin, averaging $2,190.
