The company has opened new locations in Brenham and Kyle. The new stores are the fourth and fifth new openings for the company so far in 2023. Additionally, the locations bring Academy’s store count to 109 in Texas and 273 nationwide.

The store in Brenham is 63,000 square feet, while Academy’s new store in Kyle is 56,000 square feet. Each location creates about 60 new jobs for its respective area.

The company plans to add between 120 and 140 new locations to its nationwide footprint in current and new markets by the end of 2027. 

The company’s current footprint comprises much of the Southeast U.S. Academy, which sees an opportunity to open 50 to 60 new stores in the SE footprint. 

Academy will also open its first store in Hutto this fall. The company has 2,544 local employees nationwide.
