Abbott Reappoints Jon Niermann to Commission on Environment

Gov. Greg Abbott recently reappointed Jon Niermann to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for a term set to expire on August 31, 2027. TCEQ protects the state’s public health and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development.

Niermann was first appointed to TCEQ in September 2015 and has served as chairman since September 2018. Previously, he served as chief of the environmental protection division in the Texas attorney general’s office and as an attorney at Baker Botts LLP, where he was recognized with the Judge Thomas Gibbs Gee Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service and the Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award. He is a member of the American College of Environmental Lawyers, Western States Water Council and the Good Neighbor Environmental Board. Additionally, he represents Texas on the Environmental Council of States.

Lisa Brown has decades of experience in corporate communications and marketing management with organizations including Coldwell Banker Residential, Grubb & Ellis, Marcus & Millichap, NAIOP, SIOR and ALM. In those positions, she worked in conjunction with chief executive officers and chief marketing officers to create corporate messaging, cohesive branding standards, strategic marketing plans and thought pieces. Brown is a frequent speaker at industry events and an editing adjunct professor for an online course. She has a master’s degree in mass communications from San Jose State University.
