Abacus Inks 11K-SF Lease Deal, Starts Phase II of Charlotte Adaptive Reuse Project
Charlotte, NC-based Abacus Capital — along with its partners Big Cypress Capital and Stockbridge — has signed solar developer Birdseye Renewable Energy to an 11,000-square-foot lease in 925 Tuckaseegee. The property is located in the Switch Yard, a 92,000-square-foot office redevelopment project is in the heart of FreeMoreWest’s Freight District in Charlotte, NC.
CBRE’s Joe Franco and Kris Westmoreland represented the landlord while CBRE’s John Christenbury and Spencer Hawkins represented Birdseye in the transaction.
The Abacus Capital partnership has also started construction 1001 Tuck, a 66,000-square-foot adaptive reuse office building that represents the final phase of Switch Yard’s redevelopment from what was once a pair of legacy warehouse buildings.
The Switch Yard will be the Freight District’s first structure-parked office asset. It sits on 3.8 acres at the topographical apex of the Freight District for views of downtown Charlotte’s skyline and has the ability to accommodate tenants requiring between 6,0000 and 60,0000 square feet.
