Balancing Act: Emissions Regulation & Business Profits

Governor Brown’s new Sustainable Freight Action plan seeks to boost the competitiveness of the states freight providers, but at the same time could threaten the continued growth and expansion of the Inland Empire’s economy.

The California transportation industry already faces some of the toughest truck and shipping emissions, as well as freight regulations. The California Air Resources Board is calling for integrated solutions that include zero-emissions technology, renewable energy sources, and corridor-level freight pilot projects.

Governor Brown has also convened a freight efficiency think tank, under UC Davis’ Institute of Transportation Studies, to collaboratively find a balance between environmental protection and business profits.
