$85 Million Development Breaks Ground in Harlingen
The border town will soon see 212 new homes, 8,000 feet of commercial space and an apartment complex. Esperanza Homes is calling the mixed-use project Paso Real.
Homes will start at $195,000 and will range in size from 1,395 to 3,000 square feet. The development will also feature four acres of parks and green space, sports facilities and bike and hiking trails.
Nick Rhodes, the head of the company that runs Esperanza Homes, says the area has seen explosive growth, “The area of Harlingen has the 80-acre University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley medical facility right near the Valley Baptist hospital, the IDEA San Benito as well as being close to expressway. A lot of new energy and development is on this side of the town.”
The first home is expected to break ground in October with the project taking five to six years to build out.
