$810M Expansion Approved for Arlington’s Entertainment District
The Arlington (TX) City Council approved a plan leading to an $810 million expansion of its entertainment district. The council of the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb entered into a 30-year, public-private partnership with Loews Hotels and Co., the Texas Rangers and the Cordish Cos.
Components of the new expansion will consist of:
- A $550 million, 888-room Loews Arlington hotel, connected to a new, 216,000-square-foot convention center.
- A 280-unit, 100,000-square-foot mixed-use residential building, including a Spark co-working and incubator space.
- A 200,000-square-foot corporate office headquarters.
- Additional parking, with 1,900 spaces.
This expansion is the next phase of a $4 billion development by the City of Arlington, Texas Rangers, Cordish and Loews Hotels, beginning with the $250 million Texas Live!, which opened August 2018, and Live! by Loews Hotel, which opened in August 2019.
