81 Rooms Planned at American Meter Site

An 81-room hotel is planned for 1001 Westlake Ave. N. in Seattle, on which is now perched the American Meter & Appliance building. The developers, consisting of a partnership led by GEM Real Estate Partners’ Collin Madden, are now planning to raze the building, which came online in 1920. The developers acquired the property in March 2015 for $5 million.

The as-yet, unflagged hotel would have restaurants on the ground floor and roof, plenty of outdoor space and a “gaming lawn.” Plans also indicate that the hotel could earn bonus area under Seattle’s Housing Affordability and Living Agenda program, which provides incentive to developers for building affordable housing.

Heliotrope Architects is the hotel designer. Site Workshop is the landscape architect. A design meeting is scheduled for March 1, 2017.
