$800M North Tower Project on Seattle’s First Hill Reaches Milestone

Providence Swedish‘s North Tower project recently celebrated the launch of the next phase of construction on the 750,000-square-foot facility.

The North Tower project is the region’s largest new steel structure since the Seattle Convention Center expansion. The $800 million North Tower is part of Providence Swedish’s First Hill Campus expansion, which is the largest capital project in the organization’s 115-year history. Designed by Perkins&Will and constructed by Mortenson, the tower will feature 72 acuity-adaptable ICU beds, 24 advanced operating suites, and a 31-room emergency department.

Apex Steel was part of the event, which celebrated the 12-story, 260-foot-tall medical tower reaching a pivotal stage of completion. “This final beam provides our team the opportunity to acknowledge the amazing work accomplished to date on the project, and particularly the success of the hard-working Apex crews that have safely and successfully erected this steel structure, as part of our commitment to our customer,” said Mark Baughman, Project Director at Mortenson.
