$700M USC Village MXU Development Opens
The massive $700-million mixed-use USC Village development officially opened at Hoover Street and Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles. It is the largest development in the university’s history at 1.25 million square feet, and one of the largest ever in South LA.
USC President C. L. Max Nikias said, “This project has been a labor of love for all of us. We built this village to show our enduring commitment to our exceptional students and our beloved neighbors.”
The six-building project is spread over 15 acres and increases the university’s University Park footprint by nearly a third. The development includes 633 residential suites that will accommodate 2,500 students, and a 30,000-square-foot fitness center.
More than 100,000 square feet of retail space includes a few first-to-South-LA retailers such as Trader Joe’s, Target and The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker, as well as restaurants such as Cava, the Greenleaf Gourmet Chopshop, The Baked Bear, Trejo’s Tacos and Wahlburgers.
