70-Acre Former ConocoPhillips Campus Coming to Market

Occidental Petroleum, which acquired a 70-acre campus on Houston’s west side in January 2019, is now getting ready to sell it. CBRE has been tapped to market the 1.4-million-square-foot property north of Interstate 10 and fronting North Dairy Ashford. According to local media reports, mixed-use developers, schools, universities and even the Texas Medical Center will be targeted as potential buyers.

Oxy recently finalized its $38 billion acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum. Cedric Burgher, Oxy’s CFO, told a recent conference in Denver that the company is selling the property because it isn’t large enough for the combined company.

The former campus, delivered in the 1980s and renovated in 2008, consists of low-rise buildings, connected by bridges and surrounded by lagoons. The real estate also includes a 100,000-square-foot fitness center with a basketball court, swimming pool and soccer field. ConocoPhillips departed its campus in late 2018 to move into a new facility across Interstate 10.
