650 Apartments Coming to Austin’s South Side

About 650 apartments are coming to Austin’s outskirts, near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The units will be constructed on two lots totaling about 25 acres. The Austin Business Journal reports the two projects are being developed by an affiliate that can be traced back to The NRP Group, a national developer of affordable housing and one of Austin’s busiest developers. Airport Crossing will be an affordable development. It’s not known if the other project, called Ross Road MF will be an affordable project. It will have 328 units.

Airport Crossing will be made up of one four-story apartment building with 334 units and a four-level parking garage. About 84 units at Airport Crossing will serve households at the 50% median family income level, 201 units will serve households at 60% MFI, and 50 units will serve households at 70% MFI. For a three-person household in Austin, 50% MFI was $49,650 in 2022.
