$62M in State, Federal Grants Will Advance 12 Affordable Projects Across Massachusetts

State and city officials gathered at the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation headquarters Wednesday to announce this year’s Permanent Supportive Housing Grant Awards. The awards total more than $62 million in state and federal subsidies and additional state and federal tax credit allocations.

These awards will support 12 affordable projects that offer specialized services to residents. In total, they will create more than 460 housing units, nearly all of which will be reserved for low-income households and include 317 units for very low-income residents.

The projects include three in Boston; one each in Chelsea, Dennis, Greenfield, Lynn, North Adams, Springfield and Worcester; and two in Pittsfield. Along with the direct subsidies and state and federal housing tax credits which will create an additional $74 million in equity, the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development will support projects with more than 120 project-based housing vouchers.
