SoCal studio developers have settled on Bastrop

546-Acre Bastrop Movie Studio Planning 2025 Opening

Line 204 Studios has secured its zoning needs and is moving ahead with a 546-acre film studio near Bastrop. The Southern California owner is calling the project 204 Texas.

The Austin Business Journal reports the $50 million, 28-acre first phase is set to consist of six 20,000-square-foot studios, two 10,000-square-foot sound stages, a 50,000-square-foot warehouse with mill space and 52,000 square feet of office space. At full buildout, it could have 486,000 square feet of studio space, 300,000 square feet of warehouse/mill space, 200,000 square feet of office space and a visitor center (photo). The studios and offices are expected to open next year.

About 135 of the 546 acres are earmarked for 204 Texas, which will include the studio stages, offices, backlots and rental equipment. The rest may be used for hospitality amenities, such as hotels, restaurants, golf, and more.

The project will result in $1.9 billion over a 10-year period to the local economy of Bastrop County.
