$542M San Fernando Valley Hospital, Medical Facility Expansion Approved

The $542-million expansion of a Tarzana, CA hospital and medical facility has been approved by a Los Angeles planning committee. Providence Tarzana Medical Center plans to commence construction later this year, and deliver the updated facility by 2022 at 18321 Clark St.

The project encompasses a new patient wing, an upgraded emergency department, a new central utility plant, renovated hospital lobby, expanded diagnostic and treatment areas, and a six-level parking structure.

The hospital’s Dale Surowitz told the Daily News they are aiming to build a health facility “of the future,” while serving people who are living longer and are expected to require more geriatric care. The new facilities will expand the hospital’s ability to provide neonatal and pediatric care, and redesigned patient rooms will allow more care to be delivered.

Now that the Planning and Land Use Management Committee has given the project its blessing, the project must secure full council approval.
