53-Story Convention Center Hotel Proposed
Marina del Rey, CA-based Trical Construction Inc. submitted plans for a 53-story hotel project in DTLA’s South Park neighborhood. The company is seeking to redevelop the site next to the convention center at 1300 S. Figueroa St., which currently houses the 100-unit City Lights on Fig apartment property.
Designed by architecture firm Gensler, the development is conceived as a “dual-branded” property. Two hotels totaling 1,024 rooms are planned, as well as ground-floor restaurants, a rooftop bar, meeting rooms and banquet space.
Trical expects the approval process to span several years, followed by a two-year development timeline. The existing apartment building is expected to remain operational until hotel construction kicks off.
