$50M Renovation on Tap for Jewish Community Center
A $50-million renovation on the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center (JCC) will be in the works, with a start date of September 2020. Construction will focus on the addition of a new, 126,000-square-foot, three-story facility, as well as 27,000 square feet of renovation to the existing building. Also planned is a new building for the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston.
Gensler is the designer of record on the additions and renovations, which will be the first in 15 years for the 50-year-old building. Construction will take place over different phases, and is anticipated to last for two years. The JCC is at 5601 S. Braeswood Blvd.
“We see this as the next phase of reinvestment in the neighborhood and the community for generations to come,” the JCC’s Joel Dinkin said.
