500K-SF in Towers Made of Wood at Riverfront Square in Newark, NJ
Developer Lotus Equity Group will build a 500,000-square office complex out of wood — rising 11-stories over downtown Newark, NJ. The three linked buildings at Riverfront Square, an 11.8-acre, mixed-use development, would be the largest “mass-timber” building in the U.S.
“To build the nation’s largest timber building in Newark speaks to the confidence and belief we have in the city and Riverfront Square as a world-class location,” said Ben Korman, CEO and founder of Lotus Equity Group, according to Architecture Magazine.
Designed by Michael Green Architecture, the timber towers are expected to take 20 months to complete once a tenant signs for the space. Overall, Riverfront Square will include two million square feet of office space, 2,000 residential units, a hotel, a parking garage and retail space.
