$47M El Paso Water HQ Project Finally Underway
Plans are moving forward for the building of El Paso Water’s new 3-story headquarters, a project long in the talking and planning stage that is said to cost up to $47 million. Plans have been discussed on and off for five years. El Paso Water officials have previously stated that the structure is too small for current needs, and has some heating and cooling systems issues.
The new structure will nearly double the size of the utility company’s current 40,000 square foot headquarters across the street at 1154 Hawkins Boulevard, which it has occupied for the last 30 years. The employees will continue to work in the building until the new one is complete. If all goes according to schedule, the new building will be completed by late 2024, with plans calling for the demolition of the existing headquarters in the spring of 2025. Hensel Phelps Construction company has been awarded the first phase contract.
