470-Unit Washington Highlands Affordable Housing Development Breaks Ground

Gilbane Development Company, in collaboration with MED Developers, Equity Plus Manager LLC, and Housing Help Plus, has commenced the construction of Phase 1 at Barnaby & 7th in Washington Highlands, Washington, D.C.  

Sits on a 6.3-acre site known as Belmont Crossing Apartments, the affordable housing development will consist of 169 units and aims to provide living spaces for low-income households earning 30% and 50% of the Area Median Income.  

The Phase I project will offer a variety of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom units, including permanent supportive housing and on-site social services. The development is conveniently located near public transportation options and will feature a public road and parking garage. Barnaby & 7th is part of a three-phase project that will ultimately construct 470 units and preserve existing tenancies.
