$44M Encanto MXU Development Moves Ahead
San Diego-based Affirmed Housing received unanimous San Diego city council approval to move forward on a proposed $44-million, 128-unit, mixed-use development in the Encanto neighborhood. The affordable housing developer was selected by Civic San Diego to develop retail, and affordable market-rate homes on a vacant 8.5-acre parcel of city-owned land.
The development at Hilltop and Euclid includes a mix of 44 market-rate, single family for-sale homes, 84 affordable apartments, 8,300 square feet of retail space, and a park for such local events as a farmers market.
The existing arroyo bisecting the site will become a project focal point that ties the property together via a pedestrian bridge. The project will include drought-tolerant landscaping, and façades designed to blend with the surrounding community.
