$400M Ritz-Carlton, Whole Foods East Village Development Approved
San Diego-based Cisterra Development’s $400-million landmark high-rise project at 7th and Market in downtown San Diego received design approval and development permits. The 1-million-square-foot mixed-use development is slated to include San Diego’s first Ritz-Carlton hotel, a Whole Foods Market, residential and office space.
A 39-story residential and hotel tower is planned, as well as a 19-story office tower at the East Village site. The project includes 153 hotel rooms, 156,000 square feet of office space, 125 apartments, 59 Ritz-branded condos and a 6,000-square-foot public plaza.
San Diego-based architect Carrier Johnson + Culture’s design incorporates three rooftop terraces, as well as a Ritz-Carlton sky lobby and signature restaurant on the 20th floor.
A comprehensive development agreement must be worked out with the city council before construction can commence in early 2017. Completion is slated for late 2019.
