$400M Crossing at Jamaica Station Breaks Ground
New York-based BRP Companies broke ground on the $407-million Crossing at Jamaica Station, a 730,000-square-foot, mixed-used development in Jamaica, Queens. The project incudes two towers with 669 rental units, 35,000 square feet of retail space and 187 above-grade parking spaces.
The site is located directly across from Jamaica Terminal, a major transit hub servicing more than 250,000 daily commuters. The transit-oriented project is planned for LEED Silver certification, including green elements such as an on-site cogeneration, water-saving plumbing systems, energy-efficient boiler and green roofs.
The Greater Jamaica Development Corp. spent roughly a decade assembling a site at Sutphin Boulevard near Archer Avenue large enough to accommodate a sizable project. The development, which is expected to serve as a “symbol of revitalization,” is slated to deliver in 2019.
