3D Printing Manufacturer Jabil Obtains Incentives for NM Expansion

A month after Jabil Inc. announced its intent to invest $42 million in creating  a Center of Excellence in Albuquerque, NM, the St Petersburg, FL company obtained incentives from the city. Specifically, the 3D printing manufacturer has been approved for $36 million in industrial revenue bonds and $250,000 in Local Economic Development Act funds for its 233,136-square-foot manufacturing facility at 3801 University Ave., SE in New Mexico. New Mexico is also expected to commit up to $750,000 in LEDA dollars.

Jabil announced last month that it has plans to add 120 new jobs locally, in addition to the 360 employees currently at the Albuquerque plant. The company’s Steve Borges told Albuquerque Business First that the company will manufacture medical devices, surgical tools and orthotics at the plant.

The company will also invest approximately $3.6 million in building improvements and renovations.
