$3B Water Street Tampa Redevelopment Envisioned
A $3-billion transformation of Tampa’s Water Street is set to commence with a revitalization encompassing nine million square feet across 16 city blocks. The 50-acre mixed-use waterfront redevelopment involves the addition of 18 new buildings.
Water Street Tampa is being developed by Strategic Property Partners, a joint venture between Cascade Investment LLP, Bill Gates’ investment fund, and local businessman, Jeff Vinik, owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team.
Water Street Tampa will offer more than two million square feet of office space, including the first new office towers in Downtown Tampa in nearly 25 years, one million square feet of retail and cultural spaces, 3,500 residential apartment and condominium units, 630 hotel keys, and the creation of an iconic arts/events pavilion.
The first phase is slated to be completed by the end of 2020. Phase two will deliver by 2023, and the entire project is expected to be finished by 2027.
