363-Unit Jenga Tower Tops Out

The Independent, a 363-unit luxury condominium development in downtown Austin, has officially topped out. Nicknamed the Jenga Tower, the Independent is Austin’s tallest building at 685 feet, and is the tallest residential tower west of the Mississippi River.

The $300-million project at 801 W. 5th St. is under development by Aspen Heights and CIM Group, and was designed by Rhode Partners. The development includes retail space on the ground-floor level. The condo units range from 675 -3,485 square feet, with prices starting in the mid-$600,000s. More than 80% of the units are under contract, with sales being handled by Urbanspace.
