$350M State Air Test Facility to Riverside or Pomona?
The California Air Resources Board is scheduled to vote today on where to locate a $350-million office and laboratory facility that will house up to 400 state employees. The board is seeking to relocate from an aging El Monte office, to either a site in Riverside or Pomona.
Riverside wants the organization to locate in Hunter Industrial Park, next to a UC Riverside air quality research lab. Pomona proposed using farmland on the Cal Poly Pomona campus.
The air resources board offices are expected to expand to 600,000 square feet, as a result of consolidating facilities from other sites and expanding existing labs.
