$300M, 12,000-Seat Stadium MXU Complex Proposed in Thousand Palms

Alpharetta, GA-based Richmond Honan Development and Acquisitions LLC proposed developing a $300-million, 12,000-seat stadium in Thousand Palms, CA. The indoor, air-conditioned sports facility, called The Shield at 1 Coyote Way, is envisioned to be built on a 125-acre parcel of land between the Classic Club and Interstate 10.

Palm Desert-based H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation currently owns the property. The Coachella Sports & Entertainment Stadium Authority was formed by J. David Miller, head coach of the Palm Springs-based SoCal Coyotes developmental football team, to operate the proposed complex.

Current zoning includes both residential and commercial uses, such as a business park, hotel, restaurants, villas, retail space, condominiums and an industrial park. The developer is currently conducting due diligence prior to finalizing the land acquisition. Construction of the hotel and senior living facilities would commence first, followed by medical office space, and the stadium in a third phase.
