30-Acre Health Village Envisioned in Washington DC
Register for Connect Healthcare on November 8th at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa
St. Louis-based Ascension unveiled plans to create a 30-acre integrated health village at Providence Health Systems’ Northeast Washington, DC hospital campus. Planners envision a multi-use, walkable community inclusive of both health and non-health services that are delivered to the community when, where and how it is needed.
The Health Village concept, which will be developed over time on the Michigan Park neighborhood site of the 408-bed hospital, could include:
- Transforming acute care delivery that blends emergency care, urgent care and select medical and surgical services
- Primary care, specialty care, ambulatory surgery, telehealth/virtual care, diagnostic services and pharmacy services
- Expanded post-acute care; senior living, assisted living and long-term care communities; and a home care partnership
- Partnerships with other organizations to offer services not traditionally considered part of healthcare such as affordable housing, retail, education and other social services
- Recreation, green space and/or walking trails
